Health Books Reviewed

There is probably not a household in the country that does not have health books like a  dictionary formatted book of diseases, their symptoms and even cures. Although these books are informative, their is no substitute for seeing your doctor.

Health books

Health books listing ailments from arthritis to tremors gave many people a sense that they could diagnose their own medical problems and use over the counter medications and herbal remedies as cures. The fact that many of these dictionaries of health issues are developed much along the line of a Physician’s Desk Reference, may lead us to take seriously the treatments that are suggested in these parodied references.

Health Books – Topics

These are also other books on health matters that are more specific than the paraphrasing of PDR’s for popular use on health care. These health care books are on available research on disorders like Eczema, Parkinson’s, Breast Cancer, Nervous Tics, and Chronic Fatigue to name a few of the diseases that have their own line of health books written by lay and professional people who have taken a deep interest into these diseases.
While these health books are useful and can be comforting to the individual who is afflicted or to his family, they should not be confused with medical books like the PDR or other medical books written for a specific audience, physicians.

Health Books – Knowledge

The information in medical books is characteristically impossible for the non medically trained person to understand. And, that is why there is such a market for health care books written by non medically trained people who have spent a lot of time looking into alternative medicines and alternative cures than those offered by the medical professions.

Health care is a big business because all people at some time in their lives will experience a health care issue. If the medical doctors utilizing their specialized medical books with charts and studies and suggested medications don’t come up with an answer for us, we oftentimes turn to health care books sold on the disorder or disease that is afflicting us.

Our health is important. Which leads us to thinking that we are more than just our disease and that occasions our turning if we have gotten into alternative medicines to mental health books.

Mental health professionals rely strongly on the Diagnostic and Statistical Mental Health Disorders which we call DSM for short. The trained counselor knows the reference points and what to consider when using the mental health book, but that resource is not available to most people although it makes for some interesting reading, not too many people would buy it.

Mental health books that are popular are more into using the mind to cure the body type of alternative medicine books and if they can keep your interest and motivate you to becoming more conscious of your body and mind connection are worth every cent you many spend on them.

The point to keep in mind is that mental health books written on female issues or mental health books written on increasing spirituality by practicing Yoga or similar mind exercises are no substitute for real doctors and real psychiatrists unless you have one of those disorders for which medical science and medical books have no cure and you want to find answers for yourself.
